Audience Member Heartfelt & sincere portrait of a performer who was the personification of “larger than life”. Fills in a lot of gaps for those who weren’t aware of any “non-Waters” efforts. Not many surprises, but engaging nonetheless. #nitrosMovieChallenge Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/23/22 Full Review dustin p Learned a lot about Divine and how they were created. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Andrea W Pure curiosity lead me to this one and it was really worth the watch. Maybe I am incredibly stupid, but I never knew that John Waters wrote Hairspray and had Divine play the original Edna Turnblad! This is like any other bio-documentary; lots of interviews, some old footage; a journey through the life of someone meaningful. I enjoyed it, but this is one for a more specific audience. After seeing this, I will be adding quite a few films to my watchlist... Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/09/22 Full Review Audience Member the only reason i even know Divine is because of pink flamingos - which i don't recommend, if you're curious - i can't believe it gets as much praise as it does & i can't believe people love him/her so much for it. it's a well done documentary & i did learn things about her that i wasn't aware of before... her content isn't my cup of tea, but it was a nice tribute to her work. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member I went with 2 1/2 stars for this docu. I have only seen this docu. once and I think that I would watch it again. I would reccomened it to anybody that is a fan of John Waters or Devine. I thought that it was a good docu. that had many interviews throughout from other famous, and non famous people that knew him. Very interesting docu. on Devine. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member It provides a great look at the life of one of the biggest drag queens of all time and talented character actor. It is done in a way that people can relate to the struggles and talent of Divine as well as how these seemingly odd movies became cult classics and how Divine was responsible for that. It makes me hope John Waters makes a Divine biopic in the near future Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Kerensa Cadenas Bitch Media After seeing the film premiere at SXSW, I asked a Divine-devotee friend of mine why she loves Divine so much. She simply said, "Because Divine's the original." If it wasn't already obvious, Schwartz's I Am Divine cements it. Jan 15, 2021 Full Review Mark Kermode Observer (UK) It's surprisingly moving stuff - dressed up with just enough archival outrage to remind you how scandalous Divine once seemed. Rated: 3/5 Jul 20, 2014 Full Review Geoffrey Macnab Independent (UK) The interviewees and even his mother, with whom he was reconciled late in his life, all portray him as a generous and very sweet-natured man. Rated: 3/5 Jul 18, 2014 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com While it serves as a wonderful preface to Divine's notable body of work, it's equally enjoyable to revisit the infamous, intriguing, and incomparable career of a star whose life ended much too soon. Aug 29, 2019 Full Review Leigh Clark CineVue I Am Divine is a thoroughly optimistic and exuberant celebration of life that quashes any myths about transvestism and reveals a side to the icon, that had been previously unseen. Rated: 5/5 Apr 2, 2019 Full Review J Hurtado ScreenAnarchy This is the film that Divine deserves. Nov 6, 2017 Full Review Read all reviews
