Jamie Healy Radio Times Ultimately, it's not about what they achieved but how they did it, and director Jonny Owen tells the story with flair, humour and a groovy soundtrack, always mindful of Clough's credo to put on a good show for the paying public. Rated: 4/5 Aug 22, 2024 Full Review Alex Zane The Sun (UK) Those talking heads are interspersed with archive footage of the great man himself. There is great joy in this tale of the underdog. There is only one Brian Clough. Rated: 4/5 Dec 29, 2015 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member I love this documentary Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member The greatest football story ever told. Great archive footage and interviews with a snappy 70's soundtrack. A lot of old ground covered but it is still fresh and a real feel good film. One complaint would be that it should have went right through the next season and on to Madrid. Division two, Division one champions, followed by back to back European Cups. It will never happen again. In an era of greed, money, boring cunts and no characters, this documentary is so refreshing. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member I was underwhelmed by the book, and I have the same frustrations with the movie. Yes it is an amazing story, but to tell it you have the players' after dinner circuit tales. Amusing yes, factual no; exaggerated yep. My wife recorded over my European goal with Who Shot JR. Really, that was 1981 and your goal was 1979? They make a desperate attempt to recreate the excellent NY Cosmos documentary Once In A Lifetime with a 70s disco soundtrack. But this is Nottingham not Studio 54. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member If only a miracle like this could happen to them now... Let me start off by saying that I am a Forest supporter, and so I am majorly biased. This documentary follows the standard talking head, inter-sped with archive footage model. Telling the story of the early Brian Clough glory years of Nottingham Forest, when the club won it's league titles and European Cups. The problem here is that, if you know that story, you don't need to see this, but if you know that story, this is what you are the audience for. The stand out moments here are the humourous moments and the clever editing, rather than the learning of anything. It hurts me to speak ill of a film of the team that I support, but I didn't love this. It actually quite bored me. This documentary goes from the achieve footage to that of talking head of the club personnel around that time. They've done a good job of getting some prestigious people together to talk about their experiences around that time. In a time where I find myself falling out of football; it heals the soul to hear of the days when it was a harder sport. The talking head interviews are well-edited, to create humour and intrigue(ish), but this lacks any impetus. The same old information, just in a different skin. At first it is interesting and then it loses itself and the viewer. Something about the tossing from interview to achieve, gets lethargic after a while. If you are a Forest fan, you'll likely be disappointed, and if not, then you probably don't need to be watching this. If you don't know much about the era, then this will teach you some, but a Forest supporter knows all about that time in history. In the end, the fire sparks and burns too long. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member So many memories, a must watch. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member When anything WAS still actually possible in football. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Read all reviews
