The guard (Takis Agoris) of a tiny Greek village on the island of Chios is incapacitated by a swarm of bees. After much deliberation, the stingy local government finally springs for a new man, only to find that the replacement is a bully who takes to chasing children with a loaded gun. He's fired and another guard is brought in. The third man is much friendlier, but has a gambling habit that finds him on the wrong side of the law. The fourth and greenest guard then takes over the dubious post.

Audience Member This film is so slow it should have taken place in Ikaria instead of Chios. That's not a bad thing though. It is, actually, essential to the plot and its bucolic style. Four different stories/seasons accompanied by Vivaldi's music in rural Greece of another time. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Read all reviews
