Meek ghostwriter Emilio Serrantoni (Enrico Montesano) creates hard-boiled detective stories for Donald Rose (Jean Rochefort). After finishing their latest book, "I Hate Blondes," Emilio attempts to get his employer's help in publishing work under his own name, but Donald barely makes an effort. When Emilio meets a lovely thief named Angelica (Corinne Clery), a miscommunication leads her to plan a robbery of Donald's house. Emilio has to resolve things before Donald discovers his involvement.
