11/04/2009 George Formby's films haven't aged nearly as well as say, Laurel and Hardy's and are terribly old fashioned by today's standards but as is the case with I See Ice, clever storytelling, amusing slapstick and the odd toe-tapping ukulele number (naturally George jams on it to anyone who'll listen) go a long way. Of course ol' George is very much a love him or hate him guy so assuming you don't want to instantly slap him the first time he winks at you and breaks out one of his shit-eating grins you ought to enjoy the film on some level. It helps if, like me, you have nostalgia on your side - I grew up with these movies on TV all the time. See more Read all reviews
