Times (UK) Staff Times (UK) There is nothing subtle about I See Ice; it is in the tradition of British film farce, with plenty of knock-about and plenty of jokes about hiccups,. men losing their trousers, and irate landladies. Jul 8, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member George Formby's films haven't aged nearly as well as say, Laurel and Hardy's and are terribly old fashioned by today's standards but as is the case with I See Ice, clever storytelling, amusing slapstick and the odd toe-tapping ukulele number (naturally George jams on it to anyone who'll listen) go a long way. Of course ol' George is very much a love him or hate him guy so assuming you don't want to instantly slap him the first time he winks at you and breaks out one of his shit-eating grins you ought to enjoy the film on some level. It helps if, like me, you have nostalgia on your side - I grew up with these movies on TV all the time. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Read all reviews
