Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express Sircar doesn’t get into melodrama, which is good, and there’s no sad background music to tell us when to feel, which is even better. Rated: 2.5/5 Nov 22, 2024 Full Review Catherine Bray Guardian A bit more setup would have paid dividends in terms of the subsequent journey. Rated: 2/5 Nov 22, 2024 Full Review Ishita Sengupta OTTplay Shorn of metaphor and allusion (well, not completely), I Want to Talk is about the grime and gift of living. It is a prosaic portrayal of what it takes to live and how much it takes out of us to survive. Nov 27, 2024 Full Review Saibal Chatterjee NDTV I Want to Talk hinges on the tics that propel tales of the 'terminally' ill but it uses the conventions of the genre sparingly, sensitively and with quietly devastating effect. Rated: 3/5 Nov 25, 2024 Full Review Nandini Ramnath Scroll.in The movie snaps into place when Arjun participates in a marathon. Here, Arjun’s life-long bravery, the physical effort this involves, and Abhishek Bachchan’s casting all pay off. Nov 22, 2024 Full Review Devesh Sharma Filmfare Watch it for the acting talent on display and for the message it conveys in its own meandering ways. Sree Sreenath A universal uplifting story of a father and daughter pair facing unexpected life challenges, the struggle against all odds, the symbiotic passion for life, and the victory of the indomitable human spirit. Portrayed brilliantly by Abhishek Bachchan at his best maturing as an actor to portray the complex and brilliant real-life Arjun Sen. A story of and for everyone directed by the un-imitable Award winning Shoojit Sorcar who has given us excellent heart-tugging realistic movies like Piku, Pink, and Gulabo Sitabo. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/25/24 Full Review David R I thought this was a really beautiful movie. Shoojit Sircar is a really incredible director. I think it's out of theaters now but I look forward to being on Amazon prime so I can share it with my family. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/19/24 Full Review arvind s The thing about Shoojit Sircar movies, is that they are extremely reliable, quite relatable (barring a few cases) and have that hint of a special something like KFC's secret mix, which makes his movies stand apart. And in today's Bollywood, they are an anomaly, which is a good thing. Set in the United States, Arjun Sen, an aggressive marketer is diagnosed with cancer and is given just 100 days to live. But he decides to fight it and thereby starts his long and surgery-ridden life. Along the way, he also attempts at repairing his relationship with his daughter.  As is the case with other Shoojit Sircar movies, I Want To Talk also has a beautiful soundtrack (take a bow, Taba Chake). It may be the most underrated album of the year. However, the soundtrack is also my biggest issue as I felt most of the tracks are underutilised in the film. But having said that, it isn't a deal breaker as the moving performances more than make up for it. Abhishek Bachchan's Arjun Sen is one of the best characters he has played in his lifetime. Shoojit knows how to utilise his actors (October was proof and now this). The two actors who play Arjun's daughter; Pearl Dey (younger) & Ahilya Bamroo (teen) are so so good. Johny Lever appears in a small role & Jayant Kriplani plays Arjun's doctor.  I Want To Talk is about a Father-Daughter relationship (as was Shoojit's Piku). It is about not giving up on life, dealing with difficult events in life and above all else, about hope. There is a lot to unpack in this film and to dismiss it after just one viewing is not acceptable.  I Want To Talk will be spoken about for years to come. Do not miss this! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/05/24 Full Review Mirza M 'I Want to Talk' is a simple, sensitive and somber tale of human resilience bolstered by an excellent Abhishek Bachchan performance. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/27/24 Full Review Audience Member I watched this movie and when i went home i hugged my single mom. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/24/24 Full Review Audience Member Very slow, very boring , very unrealistic . Movie makers must know that now audience is much educated ( some are in healthcare - and know that multiple surgeries , no tracheostomy, no job ,no scars matching to the surgeries— don’t fly ) audience is losing interest in cinemas as they are becoming stale - might as well let us relive the oldies , the classic , where there was story that one can connect with . Learn from past movies and what made them work . If u don’t have stories - remember everyone’s real lives are full of experiences . Make a simple life story and watch how people will connect and come back , make simple romantic stories and watch how people will have love in their heart and not hate and violence ( which is already happening and hurting all ) - remember cinemas are not only entertainment and distractions and drama but can spread messages, give a reality check , bring humanity back Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/24/24 Full Review Read all reviews
