Freddie H This is a gem of a film based on and very closely adhering to the eponymous novel by Minette Walters. It's one of the earlier works of Daniel Craig and already shows off his great qualities as a character actor. Corin Redgrave is also very good in it as the sleazy inspector who has a personal vendetta against the prime suspect of the murder case he and Craig's character are investigating. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/06/24 Full Review patricia f this series was excruciating painful to watch...and a young daniel craig was no help. finally got to the end with no satisfaction. AWFUL in spite of many glorious reviews. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/19/23 Full Review Audience Member A fine film with a Masterpiece Theater aura about it and done with the same artistic hand as Foyle's War, Endeavor...) despite the timeline and social time (mores). The English are in their own world buys tripping over their good manners, politeness, and other social niceties while killers roam the beautiful countryside. This is not only a good film but an especially good insight into the early career of Daniel Craig, now a mega-star (see his work in another surprising good early work "Flashbacks of a Fool". No one would ever guess that he once had a brogue thicker than porridge. Great mystery writer, Ms. Walters, will read/see her other work. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Great movie. Superb acting, particularly Daniel Craig and Kitty Aldridge. Well worth watching. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Excellent adaptation of Minette Walters' first novel. A good mystery but even better as a psychological study and social critique. Daniel Craig gives an excellent performance as a troubled cop. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

John Leonard New York Magazine/Vulture The Ice House was Walters's first murder mystery -- and also her best. Don't let your disappointment with The Sculptress deter you from a dark delight. Feb 1, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews
