Joshua Polanski In Review Online Despite such concerted efforts...these concessions to pluralistic imaginings of Amsterdam do not distract from the fundamental Islamophobic anxiety that drives [the film], and the deluge of other copaganda gracing screens big and small in our present age. May 3, 2025 Full Review JK Sooja Common Sense Media Strong performances can't save this boring movie. Apr 30, 2025 Full Review Erick Estrada Cinegarage In the little depth that the film has, despite being little, the film itself chokes.[Full review in Spanish] Apr 25, 2025 Full Review Juan Pablo Russo EscribiendoCine iHostage not only dares to recreate a recent real event, but it does so without euphemisms. Films about urban terrorism usually look for external culprits, ideological causes, and obvious enemies. None of that is present here. Maksim B iHostage is a solid thriller that delivers a decent level of suspense throughout. The film makes an effort to keep viewers on edge, though the source material, while intriguing, lacks the kind of inherent drama that would elevate the tension further. Character development is fairly minimal, which feels intentional given the film’s aim to stay grounded in real events. Still, this choice leaves little room for the audience to connect deeply with the people on screen. Performances are decent but not particularly memorable, and no actor truly stands out in a way that lifts the narrative. Despite these shortcomings, iHostage remains engaging enough to hold attention and keep you following the story. It won’t have you on the edge of your seat, but it provides a watchable, if not unforgettable, thriller experience. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 09/27/25 Full Review Joshua M I wondered if the English voiceover's are what makes this so awkward, but I think it's more than that. Every scene is lukewarm. It feels like an unsteady hug from a coworker, hushing, "it's all gonna be okay." It's not. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/21/25 Full Review R V iHostage delivers a gripping and realistic take on the 2022 Apple Store hostage crisis in Amsterdam. The film’s strength lies in its grounded storytelling and tense performances, particularly Soufiane Moussouli as the captor and Loes Haverkort as the negotiator. While the pacing can feel uneven and some characters lack depth, the overall experience is both claustrophobic and thought-provoking. A strong Dutch thriller that proves less spectacle can create more impact. …and never ever forget your AirPods in the train again… Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/19/25 Full Review Paul H Poor acting and a story set in 1 location. Waste of time Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/14/25 Full Review Edward D A complete waste of time. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/06/25 Full Review Martin M THE. WORST. MOVIE. EVER. E V E R.
