Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express Jan 2

This is as anti-Dhurandhar a film as you can hope to watch in theatres this year, a film that speaks of the residual connections between people regardless of borders, as opposed to those whose intention is to stoke old wounds, and create new ones. Go to Full Review
Anuj Kumar The Hindu 2d
An intimate exploration of duty, loss, and the human side of conflict, the film’s plea for empathy across borders is noble, emphasising the futility of war and the personal toll it exacts. Go to Full Review

Ikkis is less concerned with triumph or spectacle than with the quiet aftermath of conflict, where lives are reshaped, memories linger, and moral ambiguities remain unresolved. Go to Full Review

Dharmendra's final screen appearance enormously enriches an emotionally engaging, if not viscerally rousing, film that pivots around a pair of key performances from lead actor Agastya Nanda and Jaideep Ahlawat. Go to Full Review

Overall, Ikkis works best when it stops trying to be a war film and becomes a painful reminder. It tells you something unbearable: that our freedoms were bought by people who never got to live theirs. Go to Full Review

A spirit of empathy, as casual as it is bold, courses through the 147-minute narrative. Ikkis always benefits from Raghavan’s fondness for no-nonsense, wry characters. Go to Full Review

Jan 2 Very well done movie See more work t @Watchtower 2d Badly made film, bad acting and could not stand Dharmender. His speech is slurry. Dharmender couldn't act. Gimme 3 hrs of my life back. See more Sukhminder L @Sukhminder 3d It was an absolute delight to watch it on my birthday! Coming from an Army background I just couldn't think of any other (recent) defence related movie which has been picturized so aptly and precisely. Well done guys! See more Mirza M @mirzabaig890 5d 'Ikkis' is a sensitive & tear-jerking homage to a war hero that values empathy over spectacle. See more arvind s @Arvind100 Jan 4 Ikkis isn't your typical war movie It takes the bravery route, about a 21 year old boy who was insistent on serving his nation more than anything else. The toll that war takes is immeasurable and Ikkis captures that effectively. The practical effects used in the battle scenes makes it more believable and real. With most movies these days relying on cheap visual effects and green screen tricks, Ikkis excels on the technical front. The performances deserve a special mention here. Jaideep Ahlawat and Dharamendra share a lot of screentime reminiscing about the 1971 war and their scenes are quite touching. Agastya Nanda makes his big screen debut after a scene-stealing performance in The Archies. Following a non-linear narrative style worked in favour of Ikkis as it helps in keeping the audience engaged without dragging out parallel stories set 40 years apart. Though Ikkis isn't the best film in its genre, it is definitely a movie worth checking out. A good start for Hindi cinema in 2026.
