ashley h The Voyage is a decent film. It is about the ill-starred love between a middle-aged man and the earthy fiancée of his younger brother. Richard Burton and Sophia Loren give good performances. The screenplay is a little slow in places. Vittorio de Sica did an alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of the drama and romance. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member A moving melodrama with a heartbreaking ending. Burton and Loren work together well. The scenery is charming and the film is well-paced. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member Titled: The Voyage. The most mismatched pair of actors ever, Burton as a Englishman par excellance and Sophia Loren as an Italian beauty. He wants to marry her despite her heart condition. The manners of haughty families and infelxible social customs in 16th century Sicily prevent a great love, leading to heartbreak and tragedy. This appears to be a TV grade melodrama that takes place in Venice in pre-WWI Europe. One could only imagine what must have been going through these two accomplished actors to play in this slow, romance tragedy. Odd, weird, strange, unconventional film about a love that blossoms and then, through sad doctor reports, ends in ... well watch it for yourself. Seems like this one was ripped off of the very popular Love Story.
