What to Know

Critics Consensus

Campy and proudly absurd, I'm So Excited! Pedro Almodóvar's return to light comedy isn't quite the successful homecoming that filmgoers might wish for.

J. Hoberman ARTINFO.com I'm So Excited! is a bit repetitive, but it's unashamedly frivolous and often very funny. Feb 22, 2019 Full Review Deborah Ross The Spectator It's thin, banal, boring, unwitty and, if satirical, then poorly satirical, and poorly satire is no good to anyone. Sep 4, 2018 Full Review Candice Frederick Reel Talk Online A very regressive transition for this Oscar-winning filmmaker. Rated: D Sep 7, 2017 Full Review Katie Smith-Wong Flick Feast It may not be artistically stylish to accommodate fans of Almodóvar's more acclaimed films, but the amoral characters and the quick-witted dialogue are enough to shock and entertain. Rated: 3.5/5 Nov 25, 2019 Full Review David Harris Spectrum Culture An interesting entry into Almodóvar's body of work. Rated: 3.5/5 Nov 19, 2019 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com A bawdy, trifling, absurd breath of fresh air that sees the auteur return to zany high camp territory. Morten H Awfully boring movie with no real point. Writing = god awful trash Acting = boring and stiff Cameron work = plain but absolutely notering special. Directing = seemed absent At no point in the movie had it Any reason to exist. The humour Washington exceptionel boring Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/02/24 Full Review Alec B It's got a few too many pointless digressions that keep the film from being as enjoyable as I hoped, but Almodovar's intentions were clearly to make nothing more than a goofy comedy and I suppose on that level it works. The sequence that no doubt inspired the title is ridiculous in all the right ways. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Probably Pedro Almodovar's weakest film I have seen. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member So severely underrated. One of his best. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member A Fun and unpretentious novella style film. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member A complete and absolute waste of film and everyone's time Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Read all reviews
