Noel Murray Los Angeles Times Everyone involved has clearly thought through how such a wild fantasy situation might play out — and more importantly, how it would feel. Nov 4, 2022 Full Review Sheila O'Malley RogerEbert.com The best sci-fi illuminates darker corners of the human condition and screenwriter Alisha Ketry has crafted a sci-fi context illustrating the destabilizing experience of grief in thought-provoking ways. Rated: 3/4 Nov 4, 2022 Full Review Lena Wilson TheWrap Despite its sci-fi bend, the greatest strength of “I’m Totally Fine” is its smallness. A stellar script and two standout performances from Jillian Bell and the sensational Natalie Morales round out this sweet little flick. Nov 3, 2022 Full Review John Serba Decider It’s an absurd idea with great potential for pathos or comedy, but it’s underdeveloped, leaving Bell and Morales without the robust material they need to bring the movie to life. Feb 28, 2023 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix I'm Totally Fine is a one-note slog masquerading as a quirky comedy for people who think this type of independent film automatically deserves praise. Natalie Morales' space alien performance is a weak imitation of the Coneheads. It quickly gets tiresome. Toggo U What a great little movie! Two genuinely funny actresses, an original, clever script, and just feel good, funny vibes the whole time. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/12/24 Full Review Tom M The movie is classified as a comedy by Hulu, but it's more like a comedy-spiced drama. The writing is excellent, and the characters feel very realistic. The sci-fi aspect makes it interesting and makes me wonder what will happen next. Overall, absolutely would recommend. I cried twice while watching it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/11/23 Full Review Tom S So not Hollywood which is a good thing. If you expect CGI sci-fi action then skip this one. Best line "Van-es-sa ... that is an air-plane." Rich subtle humor & genuine heart. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/25/23 Full Review Koi P I liked the characters and the relationship between them. It would have been so much better if the alien didn't talk in a robot voice and there were more characters in the movie. The honest emotions kept the movie afloat. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/23/23 Full Review Louis S This is a very worth watching movie. Clever, funny, and surprisingly touching. There are very few films with a cast of less than 10 people. This one was, and four or five will stay with me for a good long while. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/01/23 Full Review Mark D I wasn't sure what to expect with this one. And I was very pleasantly surprised. I thought the acting was good. The story and writing were both great. I just love little indie films like this. As you may have read in the description it's about a woman who just lost her business partner and friend from childhood. She goes to a villa out in the country that she had originally rented to celebrate their business. But now she's going to spend the weekend on her own. When she gets there, the caterer show up and she's told she can't cancel her. And she's already paid for the party. Then a woman arrives who looks exactly like her partner. But, in fact, it's an alien doing research on humans. The two end up getting into a bunch of mischief together. I know it sounds corny, but it's actually very well done. I especially liked the scene where the dj shows up and they end up trashing the place while celebrating. If you're looking for something a bit different, give this one a chance. P. S. In case you're wondering, I'm not a friend of the film crew, actors, or anything. I'm just a film lover. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/05/23 Full Review Read all reviews
