Miriam Bale New York Times Mr. Verrette shows talent in conveying complex emotions, yet he's handicapped by his grand ambition and an inability to do simple scenes well. Dec 5, 2013 Full Review Ernest Hardy Village Voice It's a well-trod path of exploration, and Verrette - largely competent, often pedestrian - doesn't bring much new to the investigative process. Dec 3, 2013 Full Review Robert Abele Los Angeles Times [Dissolves] under the interminable self-importance and narrative laziness of someone overreaching for Christopher Nolan-like mind-bendingness. Audience Member Take a shot of vodka every time someone says "Ethan". Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie had a lot of potential in regards to its main plot. But due to its often cheesy acting and seemingly coming across as a somewhat poorly made film, it falls quite short. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member The suspense in this one is a little too frustrating. You're given long lead-ups for what seems to be an interesting science fiction film with this looming mystery that the main character can't remember what his life was like before the ominous "operation". Upon receiving this malfunctioning "hypo campus implant" you're never certain which settings are real, but unfortunately most of the acting makes it hard to know which characters to believe also. You'll go through some mixed feelings from jumping in and out of reality, the big lead-up to the mystery at the end misses the mark and undershoots. It's an airball, you think they will tie it off nicely and provide this thought-provoking reveal, but it topples attempting to be something greater than it really is. They could have taken this implant and done so much more to implement it into the story. It's convoluted, unoriginal, and misses the mark. Hard to see something get made that could have been so much more. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Despite some flaws, quite well constructed & delivered on the whole. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member In his debute film, Director Thomas Verette brings us an incredible work, as he was also Writer, Producer, and Composer. The cast are all strong, especially the lead actor, and each does their part in bringing plausibility to the film. Like Total Recall, Inception, and the Matrix, this film will have you thinking about the relationship between the mind and reality, and will pose questions that keep you thinking after the film has ended.
