Synopsis
This documentary explores apartheid in South Africa and its relationship to cinema, especially the powerful influence that Hollywood movies have had on the country's self-image. Using a wide range of clips, director Peter Davis examines the depictions of apartheid in everything from the wacky comedy "The Gods Must Be Crazy" to the tough drama "A Dry White Season." Lastly, Davis shows how a burgeoning national film industry has allowed South Africans to finally depict themselves.
