Three friends -- Shane (Shane Dorian), Keoni (Matty Liu) and Mickey (Matt George) -- are professional surfers who travel the world, searching for the perfect wave. They begin in the South Seas with Madagascar, and then head over to Bali and Hawaii. Along the way, they have a wonderful time, meeting women and enjoying life -- but they also experience tragedy when one of their friends dies in a surfing accident. Still, that doesn't deter them from the thrill of riding the waves.

I enjoyed this film. Big wave footage is great, Indonesian footage is interesting, Monkey Dancer is one of the most amazing things I've ever seen. Real surfers.

The film makers certainly know how to film some superb surfing shots, but the storyline side of things leaves a lot to be desired.

You can't judge this movie the same way you judge others. The story is a little weird, acting isn't great, but they cast real surfers because they didn't want the cheesy shots like Kate Bosworth in Blue Crush and they wanted to show more of a spiritual side of the sport. The performance by the surfers as actors can be put aside because it comes from the right place and the surfing footage is excellent. It is no Step Into Liquid but it is a great addition to the DVD library.
