This made-for-TV movie chronicles the formative early years of singer John Lennon (Phillip McQuillan). In 1950s Liverpool, Lennon clashes with his aunt (Blair Brown) while trying to make a place for himself in rock 'n' roll. In time, he assembles a band with George Harrison (Mark Rice-Oxley), Paul McCartney (Daniel McGowan), Stuart Sutcliffe (Lee Williams) and Pete Best (Scot Williams) ; they call it the Beatles. As their fame builds, it's clear that nothing will be the same for Lennon again.

Nicolas G Aug 1 The location, wardrobe, and TV direction absolutely deserve five stars. But it's always the acting that makes a film feel honest or high-quality. Physically, the casting was spot on; however, the performance—especially by "John"—felt overly exaggerated and even forced at times. That said, it's still a very entertaining watch for a Sunday on TV. See more 12/05/2020 A well-written movie, with some flaws, and gaps in the plot, the worst are the performances, but the actors look like their counterparts, so it is understandable why they were chosen, it's good to marathon with the other movies about The Beatles, and also documentaries, or as a prelude to the movie on the way, thank you. See more 03/17/2013 a great drama a fantastic story, this film it´s moving See more 06/14/2012 pretty good movie acting isnt too bad See more 01/04/2012 This TV movie is better than what I thought it would be. See more 06/07/2010 I thought the movie was ok. But where is Pete Best??? They don't say anything about him. They could have made this movie a little better but I did enjoy it! I would have liked to see more of the other Beatles. Also they went from the Quarry Men to The Silver Beetles to The Beatles. I hope "Nowhere Boy" is a lot better. See more Read all reviews
