Aramide Tinubu Shadow and Act [IMFH] is a beautifully haunting film about the cycles that we find ourselves in. Its both hilarious and heartbreaking moments really shine light on the affects of absentee parents, drug and alcohol abuse, as well as homelessness in the Black community. Apr 12, 2017 Full Review Jeannette Catsoulis New York Times Watching Mr. Tillman as he cheerfully embraces sobriety to please his son, and is rebuffed by his former street pals for doing so, we see a poignant meditation on how our expectations of loved ones can become a burden that not everyone can carry. Oct 8, 2015 Full Review Tom Keogh Seattle Times What's powerful and interesting about "In My Father's House" is the way so much goodwill and urging are tested in Che's personal life. Rated: 3/4 Oct 8, 2015 Full Review John Fink The Film Stage A brave, personal, introspective exploration of a phenomenon that has no easy solution. Rated: B+ Feb 22, 2016 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue It's neither as hopeful nor heartbreaking as it might first appear. Oct 9, 2015 Full Review Matt Pais RedEye Has vulnerability and a few laughs. But a story about reconnecting shouldn't seem so uninterested in filling in the gaps.
