Christopher Gray Slant Magazine In the Aisles scrutinizes work friendships with a keen sense of how they evolve from clipped, polite niceties to inside jokes and private confidences. Rated: 2/4 Dec 3, 2019 Full Review Amy Nicholson FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) I was shocked by how much I got invested in the world of learning how to use a forklift. Oct 1, 2019 Full Review Scott Marks San Diego Reader A good cast tries hard, but for a story that finds its origin in short fiction, there's no excuse for letting this run on for over two hours. Rated: 2/5 Jul 19, 2019 Full Review Dennis Harvey 48 Hills With his slightly cleft lip and modest speech impediment, Rogowski is an offbeat leading actor, but those "flaws" somehow only heighten his slightly edgy yet vulnerable appeal. Oct 15, 2020 Full Review Yasser Medina Cinefilia I find the performances from Franz Rogowski, Sandra Hüller and Peter Kurth very accurate, especially when they communicate things like introspection, confidence, loneliness and affection. Dani G A nice and simple story, but well done. Good songs, too Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/23/23 Full Review isla s This film seems rather dull and humdrum to start with. It does improve but not for quite some time - not long off an hour into the film does the real premise show up, so to speak, which is a shame. I'd understand people becoming bored and losing interest in it. However, I thought it became surprisingly quite touching and sad in different scenes, due to different sub-plots. Its certainly not as memorable or funny as Toni Erdmann, although it is categorised as a drama, rather than a comedy but it does also star Sandra Huller, who was in Toni Erdmann. By the end of the film, I felt it was reasonably good, its a quirky watch - it's certainly not a gripping watch per se but it's ok. It may be quite thought provoking for some. It shows the main character, Christian, in his new workplace being quite a looming and industrial place - there's almost a feel of isolation, a clinical-ness about it, with Christian left mostly on his own to work in the long aisles of the store at night. I wouldn't go out of your way to watch this as such, overall, so no, I wouldn't recommend it. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member An unexpectedly beautiful, warm film set in the coldest of settings in a mega supermarket in the middle of nowhere in Germany. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member exploring big topics in the small world of a supermarkt at night time. lots of silence leaves us as observing their day to day lifes in the scenes captured with stunning cinematography. the characters really connected with me through being so ordinary and authentic. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member If I thought first that the movie was a romantic one, I just realized at some points that it wasn't just all about that. With a huge sense of poetry, and a beautiful cinematography, the director drags us in a sordide universe which through his eyes and the story of all the characters become full of humanity and sensibility (but never mawkishness). Bravo to the great actresses and actors, they do as well a beautiful job, and you just love them all. A movie that takes ways you will never expect, and that is absolutely worth watching ! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Film is beautifully photographed. The warehouse comes alive with caring employees and wonderful music. Great art manages to elevate the every day happenings. This is great art. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Read all reviews
