The film is destined to be ignored as it bounces from one streaming service to another in the near future, and as rudimentary and familiar as this subtle scare-fest may be, part of me can’t help but think that’s frustratingly too bad.

While beautifully shot and filled with great emotional performances, In the Fire isn't quite the smart horror it presents itself to be. It falls into every generic trap imaginable and is easily one of the most predictable films of the year.

The movie could have been much more. It had an interesting plot, but predictably developed into a lame in-the-box production. Heard's performance was not very convincing, kind of like her testimony on the stand during THE trial. However, the other performances were good, especially the young boy. I wish they'd used a little more imagination and created a better ending.

the acting, cinematography, the score, everything was beautiful, i'm so grateful i was able to see this in theaters. such an excellent, heartbreaking, emotional, and bittersweet film. the tension between science and religion was very intense and well done. i truly haven't seen a single film like it. just simply amazing in my opinion.
