Marjorie Baumgarten Austin Chronicle In the Shadow of the Moon comes up short in regard to the human angle. Still, there's enough mystery to pull the plot through, and all the technical aspects of the made-for-Netlix film are top tier. Oct 4, 2019 Full Review Roxana Hadadi Pajiba In the Shadow of the Moon is inconsistently fascinating, often muddled, and totally ignorant of why time travel rules. Oct 4, 2019 Full Review Adam Graham Detroit News [W]hen you least expect it, "In the Shadow of the Moon" delivers a powerful message about the roots of hate and the dangers it poses to society. Don't let this one stay in the shadows for long. Rated: A Oct 3, 2019 Full Review Lonita Cook KCTV5 News at 9 This sincere and intriguing mystery is a fine whodunit. Sep 14, 2021 Full Review Prahlad Srihari Firstpost Its combination of buddy cop drama, serial killer whodunit, and time travel thriller does seem like the result of a mix-and-matching algorithm. Rated: 2/5 Jul 24, 2020 Full Review Amanda Greever The Daily Times (Tennessee) At some point, In the Shadow of the Moon just goes down a wormhole of politics and elaborate theories. It's not fun to watch, and when we finally get the big reveal of why the killer did what she did we don't care. Nov 27, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

Iamwhoi M I think time travel movies are always tough to do; but I did like this one. The acting and stunts are great. This film doesn't get too bogged down in the logistics of how it works. It is more about the continuum of love, strength, and our place in history. All in all, I think it is worth a watch......two, actually. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/26/24 Full Review Xandri G I have read some reviews. I agree with some of the good and bad ones. I think people are missing something about the movie, but I'm not sure. Time travel movies/books, etc are EXTREMELY hard to write. I have watched this movie twice, because I like it a lot. I understand some different "time paradoxes" or "rules". The REAL end of the movie, is at a different place, the beginning. At least, if you are following HER timeline. THAT is HER last jump or whatever you want to call it. She starts when the Detective is old. She doesn't go back to change it, because of various time travel rules... If she does, then her actions before might become undone. Basically, she puts the mission of saving the world more important than anything. I tried to explain everything I meant without giving away spoilers, but I'm not sure how good of a job I did. I'm sorry if I did. In certain ways, the movie reminded me of "Memento". Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/22/24 Full Review Jeremy H It was OK, not the best acting in the world, but watchable. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/15/24 Full Review Justin T Much as this isn’t as memorable or interesting and Dark City (1998) and The Thirteenth Floor (1999), it is certainly a lot better than most similar science-fiction detective stories. This has an engaging tone and story along with a beautiful noir style. The pace is good, the production quality is high and the acting is excellent. So why don’t I score this higher? Hard to pinpoint really, the characters are suitably interesting, the story feels original enough. I don’t know, I think it just comes down to it being forgettable. Nothing especially memorable happens but that doesn’t stop it being a good film. As it’s so forgettable I think that’s a good thing as I can enjoy it again in a few years without realising I’ve seen it before. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/12/24 Full Review John F The acting was not good from any angle. The morale of the movie is quite twisted and dark in a way the writers almost certainly didn’t intend. SPOILER. The movie basically condones murdering people before they’ve even committed a crime because they have ideas that might be dangerous. Basically the opposite morale message of a far superior film, Minority Report. And somehow, Hollywood managed to make a sci fi time travel movie where the main villain is “racism”. Not a big surprise. The formula is getting stale. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/19/24 Full Review R E Acting OK, but one of the worst scripts ever. Give me back those 98 minutes of my life, please.
