Honestly, the ending saved it. I won't give it away but suffice to say that it's a creative concept. That said, it dragged on too long. I couldn't get in to the monster and overall found the plot slightly confusing. Giving it three stars for creativity.

Copious amounts of on-screen suicides for no reason other than shock value. Out-of-place generic horror music that ruins the authenticity of the found-footage style they're going for. Bland and predictable generic plot. I couldn't even sit through the entire thing before I was too bored to continue.

The movie felt a little long at almost 2 hours but by the end it was worth it. This movie has an interesting "gimmick" to involve the audience that has a bit of a twist at the end. Incantation has an Asian point of view so don't expect a typical American narrative as it seems a few paid critics were expecting. This is one that is a mixture of POV style and found footage but is still very effective despite its length.

What I Watched Tonight

When Incantation focused on building an atmosphere of dread and tension, it was extremely effective, and these moments aren’t sparse, but, ultimately it suffers from a disjointed narrative and questionable ‘found footage’ - the ending, however, is great.
