Critics Consensus

Lurid but acted with gusto, Indecent Proposal has difficulty keeping it up beyond its initial titillating premise.

David Ansen Newsweek Not once in the whole silly exercise does he approximate a genuine emotion. Unable to dramatize marital love, he sells it, as if he were pitching perfume. Having nothing credible to play, Moore and Harrelson strike poses of love and anguish. Quite simply, it doesn't present that much of a dilemma. Rated: 2/5 Aug 21, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

Rare T Life sucks. Well, for some it does, for some it doesn't. But in the grand scheme of things, the general consensus is that it does. That's just the dystopic reality of the capitalistic interpretation of survival of the fittest. If you're not taking sides in this sheer 90s world, and you probably shouldn't, Indecent Proposal is actually but a decent prosal to a mere sad drama, where Demi Moore and Woody Harrelson peak. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/30/24 Full Review Dino J I like this movie. Not sure why it gets bad reviews but Demi is great, Woody us too and Redford nails his role too. At times it is a little dramatic but you're never not entertained. I like it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/29/24 Full Review Alexander H The first hour of this movie is great. The rest... not so good...especially considering what it could have been. But that first hour is worth the price of admission. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/12/24 Full Review Samitha B That's a very annoying, unlikely story! Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/29/24 Full Review Gareth v The actual premise for the movie is quite thought-provoking, but that's about where anything interesting in this movie stops. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 06/20/23 Full Review Greta G One of the absolute worst movies I have ever seen. I saw it with a guy I was dating at the time. It was bad enough in the theater but, having no sense of what I liked and didn't, boyfriend decided to punish me further by giving me the DVD for my birthday!
