This movie may not live up to the original but this is a damn good movie. It stands on its own. Just because it doesn't live up to your expectations doesn't mean its bad. "Mess" is the best word to describe it. I have heard bad things about it ever since it released a few years ago. Turns out, most people were right. The film brings back some nostalgia in the form of Jeff Goldblum and some references to the original. The problem with this movie is that it has no soul. The writing is bad. The CGI is questionable. The acting is comical at times. I don't know what else to say at this point. It tries to follow up arguably the quintessential summer popcorn alien invasion movie, but fails so miserably.
