Resurgence was released in 2016 and is the sequel to the 1996 classic Independence Day. This sequel stars Liam Hemsworth, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, and a ton of other actors whose names I don't remember. The movie takes place twenty years after the first movie and Earth has rebuilt after the invasion. They have incorporated the alien technology and have built a base on the moon. Jeff Goldblum plays Jeff Goldblum and investigates the only alien ship that actually landed on the Earth but finds that it sent out a distress signal. Naturally it took a bit to get there but the aliens return and they're not happy. We are then treated to a massive fighter battle and Brent Spiner, who was killed in the first movie but is back in this one, opens up a magic alien space ball and the Alien Queen flies to Earth to stop him. But Judd Hirsch appears in the desert driving a school bus to distract her and the alien queen gets shot saving the planet. While the first movie had heart, charm, and some charismatic actors this movie had tons of bad CGI, terrible acting, and an idiotic story that ended terribly. I would recommend watching the original movie and forgetting this one was ever made.

I thought it really held true to the original. Same cheese factor. Poorly acted. Genius! It was literally so ridiculous, that it blew my mind... in a good way. I was transported to the original movie and, somehow, this was just as fun a ride. It really took me back to my childhood. Sorry for all those that couldn't see this for what it is. You just need to embrace the cheese.
