Lovejoy (June Archer), a lonely young London girl, finds an outlet for beauty and self-expression by building a small garden in the ruins of a bombed church. Though she is ignored by her parents and ridiculed by other local children, Lovejoy is aided in her project by Tip Malone (Christopher Hey), the leader of a boys' street gang. When the authorities learn of Lovejoy's garden experiment, there are some unexpected consequences for the youngsters.
