caTones S One of the best movies I have seen I awhile. Yes this movie takes place in a town in Minnesota. Yes the characters have that brazenly exaggerated Minnesotan accent. Yes, the movie even makes reference to a wood chipper but do not think Fargo cliches are used or Cohen Bros comedic stylizations in this very fresh and unique movie. I preface by saying it's good enough to be in my Top 100 films if all time. Easy 5/5. Where this movie wins me over is in the development of two flawed characters who in their interaction create a beautiful two day story that kept me engaged and re-engaged each time I watch this. The cinema is drab. The town is drab and that is precisely what keeps me engaged. I laughed many times during the comedy act scenes. "The hustle and bustle of Duluth" always makes me cringe and laugh hard at the same time. The ending is powerfully beautiful. Even makes my eyes watery as I laugh hard at the punchline. This movie is funny, sensitive, and very deep. It makes want to even go to International Falls and feel its isolated coldness. This movie might not have worked had it been filmed in say Madison, WS or MSP. Do not let the lack of special FX or obscurity of the cast in this movie deter you from watching this. They are intelligent, likeable, charming and beautiful at their flawed cores. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/03/23 Full Review Lee C Although the fake Minnesota accents can be distracting at times, this little movie is funny, poignant, and about very believable characters. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review douglas p Twice I tried to get through this movie, I wanted to watch but it is sooo boring. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Anita F Terrible movie. I couldn't finish it. Rotten Tomatoes is wrong on this one. 💯 really? Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/11/22 Full Review ronald h A clumsy mix of humor and pathos. The humor is sophomoric, and the pathos is cloying. This film is basically another in a long line of knock-offs of the awful "Bridges of Madison County": lonely housewife gets into affair with a guy from out of town who's just passing through. The only reason I sat through this is because I was in one of those mentally passive "I don't care what I watch" moods. That happens sometimes. But this movie is so inexcusably bad, it awaked my critical acuity enough to at least write this, in hopes of saving other viewers from watching it. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member I loved this film! The characters are so authentic and relatable. The story is intense and touching. Rachael Harris who plays Linda on Lucifer gave an outstanding performance in a completely different role. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Frank Scheck Hollywood Reporter The alternately funny and poignant character-revealing dialogue flows naturally in the expert hands of Harris and Huebel, who leaven their comedic performances with strong layers of pathos. Mar 18, 2020 Full Review M.N. Miller Ready Steady Cut Rachel Harris shines in International Falls, a flawed comedy that, at the very least, doesn’t squander the big moment when the time comes. Rated: 3/5 Aug 28, 2022 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com With intelligence and insight and more than a little dark humor, Amber McGinnis has directed a winner.
