A clumsy mix of humor and pathos. The humor is sophomoric, and the pathos is cloying. This film is basically another in a long line of knock-offs of the awful "Bridges of Madison County": lonely housewife gets into affair with a guy from out of town who's just passing through. The only reason I sat through this is because I was in one of those mentally passive "I don't care what I watch" moods. That happens sometimes. But this movie is so inexcusably bad, it awaked my critical acuity enough to at least write this, in hopes of saving other viewers from watching it.

A sort of funny and definite downer of a movie. International Falls is hyper modest in scope and in conjunction with the small town Minnesota setting, it works. As a Minnesotan myself, the accents are certainly in the Fargo-esque brand of exaggerated, but I enjoyed how Intl Falls pokes fun at my home state in little ways throughout. It's kind of a muted movie overall, but there are notable insights and funny moments.

Terrible representation of this small town. Literally no one talks like the way they do in the movie. I wouldn't recommend watching this movie with anyone because of how uncomfortable and raunchy this movie was.
