Audience Member It's hard to finish a movie like this when the productions break SO MANY rules of thumb to the first person "filmmaker" perspective- and don't get me wrong, I have a lot of respect for up and comers who put in a good effort to make a found footage- or faux-documentary film, while making an occasional mistake by breaking the "180 degree rule" let's say, but then there's movies like this one which just completely disregard the foundation of their own rationale- and as a result you're just witnessing impossible camera angles and miscellaneous insert shots that reveal invisible cameramen at their supposed marks. And just because there's "interview/testimonial" sequences sprinkled throughout, doesn't necessarily mean that you have made a plausible, or realistic mockumentary- I think this movie would have been just fine if you were to eliminate the need for staging in a "film crew". To me, the hybrid format just doesn't work..And there's plenty of realistic faux documentaries out there that show the actual camera operators in reverse angle coverage—so then why couldn't they be staged in the compositional background? My guess is probably because the production wanted to shoot on a good camera, but then could only afford one rental and perhaps one operator. And as a result you end up watching a hodgepodge of inconsistencies and comedy that ultimately lacks humor. I decided to give this movie a one star rating because of the Jimmy Tatro cameo, and USUALLY, everything he touches turns to gold, but I don't think anyone can salvage this movie, unfortunately. But if you'd like to see a good faux documentary (series)- then check out Tatro in "American Vandal" Season One - steaming on Netflix (US).
