Jeffrey Lyles Lyles' Movie Files Classic bait and switch with an exciting looking movie poster that sells the idea of an alien invasion only for the reality to be a near two-hour teen therapy session. Rated: 1/10 Aug 16, 2020 Full Review Josiah Teal Film Threat The film is not focused enough to be a drama about addiction, not nearly engaging enough to be a fun sci-fi epic, and far too problematic to be riffed by the likes of Mystery Science Theater. justin t Every science fiction trope is used without irony or any sense of meta. The film opens with the Window 3.1 starfield simulation screensaver. Dialogue is so quiet you can't hear what they are saying, which is good most of the time because you don't want to hear what they are saying. Except the adverts on the free service I'm watching it on are destroying my ears every three minutes! It is ugly to look at and unbelievable unrealistic content. No real story. No original characters. Most of the characters are thoroughly dislikable. Acting is not good but Jon-Paul Gates and Charlotte Gould whose over-the-top performance is just about entertaining. It's all far too rehearsed. The characters act like they have self awareness but in reality they really wouldn't have any understanding of why they do what they do. Pacing is actually tolerable, so much stupid stuff happens it's actually more entertaining than most low budget garbage. The visual effects wouldn't look bad twenty years ago... Now they don't look good. Overall I didn't hate it but I would also say not to waste your time, watch Evil Aliens (2005) or maybe Attack the Block (2011). It feels like an interesting exploration into the nature of addiction set to the backdrop of a cheesy alien invasion. The aliens looked terrible, leather outfit with a bad mask.
