When objects start to go missing from her home, Sophie Hartley (Susan Sarandon) suspects that a stalker is responsible. Then she meets Mara (Emily Blunt), the new co-worker of her husband, Craig (Sam Neill), and after seeing her in a dress that was among the vanished items, Sophie believes that Mara is obsessed with her. Unfortunately, she takes her suspicions too far, which leads to legal ramifications and her husband becoming concerned for her well-being -- but also to a startling discovery.

Writer-director Ann Turner has dealt with similar themes of fear, paranoia and seduction before, but Irresistible is her first tilt at a Hollywood-style genre film. It's an interesting try and the performances are good, but the suspense sags. Go to Full Review Read all reviews

See more Briana I. @Anaire May 23, 2026 I thought this movie was pretty good when I watched it, I like how Emily Blut tormented her mom and made her think she was losing her mind. Then I watched a movie called Bloodknot which was made in 1995 a couple years before this film but it had the same exact plot and twist and that movie was a parody compared to Irresistible, so now I rate it higher knowing there's something out there much worse. So if y'all thought this was bad which is accurate looking at the ratings go see Bloodknot which is intolerably bad. Is ANYONE going to mention the absurdity of them trying to make us believe a sixty year old Susan Sarandon is a mother of 2 young children? It’s absurd. She would have been giving birth at 52 years old. LOLOLOL. What, no age appropriate actresses available for a low budget Australian movie? But wait, there’s more. A 23 year old Emily Blount is cast as a mother of an 8 year old. I guess she got knocked up at what…13? Fuckin absurd. Couldn’t get past these two massive casting/plot flaws. Emily is hot though, and Sam Neill is always a great watch. These two give the movie its 1 star rating.
