Frances H Touching film about the human instinct for survival and the power of hope and love. A wonderful acting tour de force for young Jordan Kiziuk, and what makes this story even better is that it's based on a true story. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/08/14 Full Review Audience Member This was a very watchable movie made from a children's book which won the author a prestigious award. It is "semi-biographical", which means not really what happened -- and it is rather unbelievable....but who knows? There are many true and miraculous stories of survival. This was a movie well-made about the persecution of the Jews by the Nazis; a story that makes you hope it happened - that some survived and were reunited with their families. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review thomas a "The Island on Bird Street" is a heartwarming story about a Jewish boy who survived in a Polish ghetto, alone, by looking after even the smallest things in his life. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Interesting look at the life of a Jewish boy surviving the ghettos in Poland, the film shows one young man's efforts to evade the German Police, while waiting for his father to return. The most amazing part about this film, is that its based on a true story; and for anyone interested in Jewish history, this is a film worth checking out. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member It is a story we have seen, read before: individual surviving the holocaust -- but this one tells the story of an 11-year-old. And as I have an 11-year-old boy, I was even more impressed with this one's resourcefulness and insistence that his father returns to save him. Worth watching Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Good movie. Check it out especially if you're interested in movies about WWII.
