Mother and daughter stage performers Georgia Drake (Kay Francis) and Pamela Drake (Deanna Durbin) clash when they both fall in love with a dashing gentleman (Walter Pidgeon) and vie for the same part. Although Georgia was already cast in the role of a singing maid, young Pamela sings her heart out and steals the show during her audition, easily convincing the producers to give her the role instead. Pamela becomes a success, but show business, love and family make for a sometimes volatile mix.

Innocuous but who cares with a cast that includes Deanna Durbin, Kay Francis and Walter Pidgeon it's very enjoyable. Kay as was her standard is decked out in one knockout ensemble after another. Cecilia Loftus add a fun performance to the proceedings as Kay's maid and confidante.

I AM A LITTLE BIASED WHEN IT COMES TO DEANNA DURBIN, NOT QUITE SURE WHY, BUT I JUST LIKE HER VERY MUCH. I ENJOYED THE FILM, LIKED THE PLOT. NOTHING OUTSTANDING, BUT THINK DEANNA MAKES IT ALL WELL WORTH WATCHING.
