Mike P Normally I love Japanese Animation, but Sugii delivers us an incomprehensibly strange variation on the tail; a hodgepodge; with some of the worst movie musical tunage since At Long Last Love or the musical version of Jack the Giant Killer...I mean this is bad. And the skeleton of the story is there; but director Sugii goes off in so many crazy directions it really doesn't resemble the original fable at all. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/20/25 Full Review James W I watch this film a few times a year, every year. Voice acting is great, animation is classic 70's. Humor is on point. Music is trippy. Villain is iconic. What's not to love? Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/12/24 Full Review StephenPaul C The greatest 01 hour: and 32 minutes of animation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/21/23 Full Review Frisby 2 One of the THE weirdest animated film's I've ever watched, and that's not a negative, because this is so specifically odd that it'll keep you interested the whole way. It can't even keep a consistent tone, but again, that's not a bad thing. Even the musical numbers in it are weird, and catchy too (especially the wedding song, THE weirdest scene in the whole movie). So yeah, weird describes the whole movie, but it's entertaining and visually it will never disappoint. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 05/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Pretty much anyone I have discussed movies with has never seen this movie. But being kids in upstate NY in the 70's my brothers and I remember seeing it quite a few times and enjoying it. Yes it was strange, but movies/cartoons and the music accompanied with them was strange back in those days. I found it on DVD and had to buy it. My brothers and I got a kick out of watching it as adults. We remembered a lot more than we thought we would. If you are into strange cartoon movies from the 70ï¿ 1/2(TM)s, you need to check this out. I am so glad I found it...lolï¿ 1/2Another few strange, cool and creepy movies we remember so well were ï¿ 1/2The Water babies, Dot and the Red Kangaroo, The Watership down and the Watcher in the woods(1980-with Betty Davis), Not a Cartoon, but pretty creepy for a Disney movie.ï¿ 1/2Â?
