Anil Sinanan Time Out The film claims to champion the power of the common man, but it looks more like Khan and his director brother, Sohail, are intent on underestimating their common sense. Rated: 1/5 Oct 23, 2017 Full Review Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express Little more than a damp squib. Rated: 1.5/5 Apr 27, 2015 Full Review Anupama Chopra Hindustan Times In all honesty, I'm confused about how to evaluate Jai Ho. Because it's not a film. It's a cartoon. Rated: 2.5/5 Apr 27, 2015 Full Review Anna M.M. Vetticad annavetticadgoes2themovies The film is ... tired. The only novelty is that Salman [Khan] here not only beats up people, he also roars in Sunny Deol style and - get this - he bites. Rated: 1.5/5 Feb 2, 2021 Full Review Manjusha Radhakrishnan Gulf News (UAE) While the notion that the power of the common man shouldn't be underestimated is noble in Jai Ho, I wish its makers had also remembered not to underestimate their common sense. Aug 31, 2017 Full Review Shilpa Jamkhandikar Reuters If you accept that there won't be a semblance of sense in the screenplay, and that the... film is essentially a showreel for Khan to show off his sculpted body, action moves and dance steps, then perhaps you can enjoy the madness that is Jai Ho. Asjad F The story was good message was good to action everything was good salman khana sir was also good cast was good Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/15/22 Full Review Audience Member I accidentally watched this film 5 years ago on Hotstar, when I was confused between this and Kick. Since both these films came at the same time and I rarely used to watch TV back in 2014, so I thought both those trailers were of the same film. I wanted to watch Kick but watched this instead, which is why I hated this film more than I was supposed to (although I later watched Kick and didn't like it either). And I won't lie to you - Jai Ho feels like an ad for endorsing Salman Khan. It has him shown as a super strong guy who can't tolerate injustice and...yeah, that's pretty much it. Jai Ho is about a man named Jai Agnihotri, who doesn't tolerate seeing injustice happening around him. And when he gets beaten up, he 'turns into an animal' and attacks everyone around him (turning himself into an animal = shouting 'gaaaaaah!' in the ear of the one about to take a beating). This film is something I would call the fantasy of every innocent man. Tell me, don't you also feel like beating up entire mobs when you see someone being harassed. Trust me, I do. And that's the reason why I have not given this film a 1 star rating. Because that is the only part I like about this film. So Jai's sister elopes with and marries a Muslim man because she didn't want her mother to ask questions about his background (Love Jihad Logic 101: Always run with a middle aged uncle to defy your parents just because he is a Muslim). Jai is pretty cool with it, and he always tells people to not say thank you. Instead they should help 3 people, and tell them to help 3 more people. With the help of this scene we are able to know Jai is a good person and Pulkit Samrat is an honest guy because he can do basic maths. Also Jai was expelled from the army because he didn't follow orders so boohoo to that. Now that we have talked about the good guys, let's talk about the bad ones. The Home Minister, Dashrat Singh is played by Danny Denzongpa, who somehow gives the vibes of an evil version of Kiren Rijiju. His daughter is evil because she was talking on the phone and laughing when she was first shown (I'm not kidding, they actually show her to be evil because of this). And there is this girl who doesn't have hands and so she commits suicide because she got late. And her brother files a case against Dashrat Singh because I don't know. Then Dashrat Singh's son kills him in the most girly way possible (that's right mister, showing your body and tearing off Salman Khan's shirt won't make you manly). In the end Sunil Shetty brings a military tank, the people mob lynch the Home Minister of India and everyone lives happily ever after. There are many filler scenes too like that. There's a kid who tags along with Jai and he actually came wearing Pinky's clothes in public because she took his towel and wore it as a skirt. There was also the 'innocent' girl with a wooden hand who tells a politician to help 3 people, and that makes him realise Jai is a good guy. There is also the wedding scene but there's too much cringe to digest in one film, so I'll let you do the watching. When I look back and remember Jai Ho, it really makes me wonder how this film possibly got made. It most definitely didn't have a screenplay. The action scenes look like the director had a REEEEE moment when he decided it, the funny scenes look like they wanted to bring in Sooraj Barjatya family entertainment and the emotions don't work at all. This is a terrible copy of a South Indian film and a 2.5 hour long ad for Salman Khan, and I mean all of this in a wrong way. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member 1.5 star for the money and time put in, wasn't able to bear it in cinema hall though! Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Ahmed M The story is average, the performances are okay, but the ending scene as well as the fight scenes make this movie a comedy movie all of a sudden. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/27/16 Full Review Audience Member A great movie on how to help others by spreading the message of humanity. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Its full of impossible beating of bad guys, but this movie is a full entertainer.
