Bilge Ebiri Spirituality & Health Edited together with a fluidity and polish rare even in the best documentary films. Mar 23, 2020 Full Review Kambole Campbell One Room With A View A moving but flawed piece of documentary that could stand to fill in a few blanks, Jane is bolstered by a powerful score, sharp editing and an abundance of fascinating archive footage. Rated: 3/5 Aug 25, 2018 Full Review Chris Harvey Daily Telegraph (UK) Watching Jane was like stepping back in time to a moment at which Homo sapiens learned something new and vital about its own family - the great apes. It was extraordinary. Rated: 5/5 Mar 13, 2018 Full Review Brendan Cassidy InSession Film Nature has a way of aligning us all, and Jane Goodall knew it. This is one of the year's best films. Rated: A Jul 1, 2024 Full Review Leigh Monson Substream Magazine Jane is a small pleasure, but its emotional impact is far more substantial than its modest premise would presuppose. Rated: 4/5 Oct 1, 2020 Full Review Steven Prokopy Third Coast Review Jane is easily one of the finest documentaries of the year and should be a major contender come awards season. Martini looks like simple success .. but this maybe fate .. you dream something, and they will come to you Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/29/23 Full Review Audience Member Actually more credible than a number of contemporary full-length nature documentaries as it's more a humanely driven portrait with undeniably grown inspiring passion as evidently functioned in reaction to an excellent prompt, reflectively stirring societally commentative observations that absorbs us within the impeccably polished restoration towards the beautiful photography with resonance. (A-) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member It is wonderful to see a frank and honest documentary about the life and work of a genuine hero of biology. Jane makes very good use of recently rediscovered, archive footage of primatologist Jane Goodall showing how her work into the behaviour of chimpanzees developed into the longest study of its kind. The dedication of this inspirational woman shines through but the film doesn't shy away from showing us some of the mistakes she made and the frailties of her personality. The early footage of her in Tanzania during the 1960s that was shot by her husband, Hugo van Lawick is fascinating and director Brett Morgan allows Goodall herself to narrate her story in the open, easy manner for which she is renowned. This film will appeal to anyone with an interest in natural history as the field owes Goodall so much. The insights it gives into how her work developed makes for compulsive and informative viewing. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Although valuable to recognize the effort done for years, it doesn't catch a minimum part of the complexity and interest divulgative articles have spread about Goodall work. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Absolutely absorbing in every sense. Stunning, enlightening, funny and sad at times. I have to say one of the best movies of any type I have ever watched. Of course.....Jane Goodall is one of our planet's greatest treasures ! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member breathtaking movie about everything that’s important in the universe. stunning clips from the 1960s. the documentary was both dream like and very real, showing jane’s time in the forest not as some fantasy land but a fully lived life. wonderful human being to be able to have a look into. inspiring movie about life, love, passion, and the universe Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/19/19 Full Review Read all reviews
