Jake Wilson Sydney Morning Herald Indeed, while Jane Austen Wrecked My Life could be described as a romantic comedy, it’s never especially funny, for all the stumbling and bumbling in the manner of Richard Curtis movies like Love Actually … Rated: 2.5/5 Jun 24, 2025 Full Review Stephen Romei The Australian This is an intelligent, well-directed, well-acted movie that, at its heart, just wants to have a bit of fun. Rated: 3.5/5 Jun 24, 2025 Full Review Kimberley Jones Austin Chronicle Modestly scoped, sometimes sweetly dopey, and sincerely moving, Jane Austen Wrecked My Life is a charmer. Rated: 3.5/5 Jun 23, 2025 Full Review Jane Freebury Jane Freebury It's always a good start when the romantic couple loathe each other from the get go, and it's no different in this frothy, charming rom com about a booksmart Parisian and an uptight Englishman Rated: 3/5 Jun 25, 2025 Full Review Robin Holabird KUNR (Reno, NV) It is a truth universally acknowledged in rom-com movies that adding Jane Austen to the mix helps your project. Jun 21, 2025 Full Review Simon Foster Screen-Space There are beats here that feel familiar - the whole narrative is an Austen riff, after all - but Piani and her star bring a warm loveliness and occasionally outrageous sensibility to the romance genre. Brad Delightful! Romantically cynical, yet offering a J.A. light at the end of her cinematic tunnel. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/18/25 Full Review Serena Charming, light hearted romance. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/15/25 Full Review Ellen A Loved the movie! Beautifully filmed and acted, a moving story, and as a writer myself, I felt inspired! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/15/25 Full Review Jeff I thought this movie was alright. I wasn’t expecting it to be primarily in French, but if that doesn’t deter you, it’s worth watching! I don’t know if Charlie Anson has inquisitive eyes or creeper eyes, but he walks a fine line in this movie. The romance between his character, Oliver, and Agatha is kind underdeveloped. Throughout most of this movie, it just feels like something is missing. Nevertheless, an inquisitively eyed guy meets annoyed RBF woman and go! That’s this movie, and it’s alright, closer to being good than bad. This movie fits very well into itself, and I mean, you’re expecting a fairy tale like romance to develop, but it can’t because of the disposition and assumptions and chaos and trauma of Agatha, and you get that. I don’t think you really feel what she’s feeling, but you get it well enough to understand. This movie has the capacity to make you smile and laugh and feel contentment with its conclusion. I’d recommend a watch. Ideally, it’s better suited for a streaming, date night kinda movie. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/12/25 Full Review Brenda Very unexpected, yet exactly what I was looking for. Smart story, interesting characters. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/11/25 Full Review kathleen W The acting was excellent, especially the role of Agathe. We loved everything about it.
