It’s a twee, theme park version of Englishness, full of antiques and affable eccentrics. While not entirely without appeal, this is a film without an original idea in its head. Go to Full Review

Indeed, while Jane Austen Wrecked My Life could be described as a romantic comedy, it’s never especially funny, for all the stumbling and bumbling in the manner of Richard Curtis movies like Love Actually … Go to Full Review

This is an intelligent, well-directed, well-acted movie that, at its heart, just wants to have a bit of fun. Go to Full Review

The fusion of repressed love and underlying passion opens the door for the characters to achieve the same breakthroughs as Lizzy Bennett, Emma Woodhouse, and Anne Elliot. Go to Full Review

Jane Austen Wrecked My Life may be nice enough for Austenites submerged in the literature, but for the rest of us, its rampant temperance renders it unengaging. Go to Full Review

Although she’s beyond her formative years, this is a tale of self-discovery — or, more accurately, rediscovering oneself. Go to Full Review

Fandango Customer C Oct 25 Great story and characters. Kind of raunchy to a gratuitous level, however. See more Brad Jun 18 Delightful! Romantically cynical, yet offering a J.A. light at the end of her cinematic tunnel. See more Serena Jun 15 Charming, light hearted romance. See more Ellen A Jun 15 Loved the movie! Beautifully filmed and acted, a moving story, and as a writer myself, I felt inspired! See more Jeff Jun 12 I thought this movie was alright. I wasn’t expecting it to be primarily in French, but if that doesn’t deter you, it’s worth watching! I don’t know if Charlie Anson has inquisitive eyes or creeper eyes, but he walks a fine line in this movie. The romance between his character, Oliver, and Agatha is kind underdeveloped. Throughout most of this movie, it just feels like something is missing. Nevertheless, an inquisitively eyed guy meets annoyed RBF woman and go! That’s this movie, and it’s alright, closer to being good than bad. This movie fits very well into itself, and I mean, you’re expecting a fairy tale like romance to develop, but it can’t because of the disposition and assumptions and chaos and trauma of Agatha, and you get that. I don’t think you really feel what she’s feeling, but you get it well enough to understand. This movie has the capacity to make you smile and laugh and feel contentment with its conclusion. I’d recommend a watch. Ideally, it’s better suited for a streaming, date night kinda movie. See more Brenda Jun 11 Very unexpected, yet exactly what I was looking for. Smart story, interesting characters. See more Read all reviews
