Simon Miraudo Quickflix Perhaps the makers thought horses were innately fascinating, and we'd just feel fortunate to spend 130 minutes in the presence of this one. Never before have I felt so misunderstood by a movie. Rated: 2/5 Dec 1, 2013 Full Review Brendan Kelly Montreal Gazette Eventually you may tire of the endless slow-motion sequences of horses leaping over fences, but even for those of us with little interest in the sport, it's hard not to get wrapped up in the drama. Rated: 3/5 Sep 6, 2013 Full Review Kent Turner Film-Forward.com The drama really takes off during the competitions, filmed with an aerobic camera that moves everywhere ... Even if you're not an equestrian, this is a knuckle-biter. Rated: 3/4 Mar 7, 2013 Full Review Read all reviews

Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Maybe a little bit too long but otherwise a wonderful movie and a must see for horse lovers. The exciting story of the famous little horse (only 1.58m) who could jump like there's no tomorrow, and of course its rider, Pierre Durand so wonderfully portrayed by Guillaume Canet who can ride very well himself being the son of horse breeders, which makes for more realistic riding scenes. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Comme disait un célèbre critique, aujourd'hui décédé, ''Thumb down''. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member It reminded me a bit of the Rocky genre; themes of underdog rising and the intimate conversations you can only have with your other half. Good work! Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Visually stunning and educated performances by the cast. It's a film about a national hero in France and for French it's a very nice opportunity to follow his steps until the Olympic Games in Seoul. On the other hand, Canet's adaptation is poorly written and he made some changes that I didn't like. Changes that approximate Pierre Durand's real story to the screenwriter's story with horses and this shouldn't have been done in an adaptation of a real fact. It's kinda disrespectful with the champion rider. Anyway, I'd rather watch a documentary about Jappeloup. Only if you really love horses that I recommend it.
