Jason goes to the future, but the story is still stuck in the past.

Empire Magazine Rated: 4/5 Dec 30, 2006 Full Review Sheila Norman-Culp Associated Press By now, despite the nine years since the last Friday the 13th sequel, Jason and his hockey mask are as predictable a franchise as McDonald's. Moviegoers know what they are going to get. Mar 16, 2004 Full Review Robert K. Elder Chicago Tribune Jason X conjures up more giggles than scares, assuming you make it through the first 15 minutes. Rated: 1.5/4 Jul 20, 2002 Full Review Brian Bisesi Horror Movie Club Podcast Ten movies in, the franchise finally and mercifully becomes self-aware. Despite the weak plot and absence of a compelling final girl, the film’s sense of humor keeps the ship on course in one of the franchise’s more entertaining outings. Rated: 3/5 Sep 11, 2024 Full Review Brian Costello Common Sense Media It's not a good movie. Literally no one expects Jason X -- the 10th sequel in the Friday the 13th series -- to be good. Rated: 2/5 Mar 26, 2021 Full Review Trace Thurman Horror Queers Podcast There's a lot of dumb fun to be had here, so it only sucks on a few levels. Alexander S Jason X is horrendous in the highest level of absurdity a Friday the 13th movie will ever achieve but it can be an entertainment for those seeking a mindless watch of Jason Voorhees massacres and eventually becoming an upgraded space killing machine with moments of sexual content, you’re in for your own treat. Lexa Doig is my only treat for this film. Grading: F Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/22/25 Full Review Omar G Jason X (2001). Jason Voorhees is immortal, he should arrive in our future hundreds of years from now. The most attractive in the film was Lexa Doig but I didn't like her character. Lisa Ryder had a nice smile. In this film I like the characters of KM-14, the sarcastic but noble Janessa Zachary. One step below are Sergeant Elijah Brodski. Tsunaron Peyton and the cunning Dieter Perez. David Cronenberg appears briefly, as does Robert A. Silverman who appeared in several Cronenberg films. The characters I hated were the idiot Kinsa, the idiot Professor Brandon Lowe. The destruction of Uber Jason with Brodski was similar but in reverse when Dragon Shiryu with the last Dragon takes Capricorn Shura into space instead of entering the planet. The death of putting the head in hydrogen was like the death in Halloween II (1981) but instead of freezing it was with heat, Myers puts a woman's head in boiling water which in turn plagiarized that death from Profondo Rosso (1975). Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/25 Full Review Justin T This is a guilty pleasure of mine. It starts with great graphics in the opening titles, reminiscent of a bond opening but then we get soap quality acting and cinematography and set design and editing and effects and music and writing but whilst it is atrocious it is still entertaining. It’s a fun and different concept for the series. It made me laugh when they said that they outlawed hockey in 2024, that’s so last year! This kinda killed the franchise just like New Nightmare (1994) killed Elm Street, what could they do after this one? Well, exactly what we’ve been building up to, a versus movie! Even in the year 2455 the Americans still use Fahrenheit. It should be gorier, the first kill is the only really memorable one. I really enjoyed the minimal use of CGI, it dated the film but was so cool. For all the faults it is engaging and entertaining so ultimately what more can you expect? It’s the tenth in the series after all. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/28/25 Full Review Logan G space, some goofy 2000’s charm, and uber jason makes for a FUN time Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/14/25 Full Review Audience Member here's the thing - this movie is meant to be a silly, stupid, self-aware, sci-fi film with jason in space, but you know what? it WORKS for me. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/10/25 Full Review Jerod S The Jason franchise is just silly. But to top this one off, he's incinerated by reentering the atmosphere and his "shooting star" landing back in the lake. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/20/24 Full Review Read all reviews
