Sean L. McCarthy Decider Her personal circumstances, coming as they do when the politics have shifted, have led to perhaps her sharpest comedic work because it’s so laser-focused. Here and now, her sound and fury signifies everything. Oct 21, 2022 Full Review Matt Wilstein The Daily Beast Ladykiller is a perfect introduction to Friedman's specific comedic sensibility, especially for anyone who hasn't been following the ins and outs of her career over the past decade. Oct 1, 2022 Full Review Clare Martin Paste Magazine The push-and-pull tension of Ladykiller showcases Friedman’s writing skills. She knows how to keep an audience on edge with her pacing, as well as how to craft an instantly quotable bit. Rated: 8.4/10 Sep 28, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews

L3TR B Jena Friedman is a killer comic Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/10/23 Full Review Fred N If you think the word "woke" is a pejorative, you won't like her. Otherwise, she has a fearless, tight, frank delivery that pokes at and pokes holes in the assumptions of modern life. Like the best comics, sometimes the punchlines make you go "Hmmm." after you laugh. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/11/23 Full Review Angela P Honestly, this was pretty disappointing. Some of her jokes were good, like the one about not wanting to be a mom but wanting to be a prop comic. But most of them were tired and things that have already been said a million times (except for the segment on miscarriages which I just personally wasn't a fan of), all while acting like it's an unspoken and shocking truth. It's all been said, this just comes off as a comic trying to be "edgy". The worst part is that I can tell she's incredibly smart and has a lot of material based on some bits where she talks about the history of abortion in politics, but she just wastes it all on overdone and lazy jokes. I actually started predicting a lame joke thinking she wouldn't be that bad, but continued to be disappointed when she did exactly what I thought she might do. Just so much wasted knowledge (and maybe talent). She talks about how she doesn't want to talk about sex as a female comic, which I love, because I feel frustrated as a woman watching female comedy specials always hitting that obligatory section about their sex lives (or in some cases, the entire special). That's another reason why this special is just so disappointing— she does relent to talking about her sex life after making a joke that she would only be popular if she did it (which softens the blow a little), but when she isn't talking about her sex life it's dry and surface level jokes about politics. There's so much to say (and I agree with her views), yet she leaves so much to be desired. I honestly think this special is a waste of your time — a basic political set that pretends it's cutting edge. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 07/19/23 Full Review Read all reviews
