(Substack) There’s so much righteous anger in this movie, not just about the way girls are treated and about bodily autonomy, but also about the recession and America’s weird post-9/11 jingoist patriotism. Audience Member I went into this movie as a horror fan, and I was not disappointed. I absolutely love the narrative of this film having a regular teenage girl sacrificed in a satanic ritual to have the demon not only possess but force her to retain her life force essentially through killing/eating men. The visual effects were pretty good such as the inhuman gaping maw or her claws. It was good especially during the early 2000s. There were a few narrative choices that felt unnecessary such as the really long sex scene. However, I did understand the reason behind this choice to be in contrast with Jennifer devouring Collin Grey. The plot at times did feel slow. I questioned Anita choice of simply starring at the fire while it spread throughout the "bar". I also felt that the end with Anita having the powers of the demon to be forced. Despite this I did like the perspective from the criminal investigation for how Anita murders the band with the different photographs. That was a nice touch. The acting as well was not great nor terrible, but pretty good for most of the film. All in all, this was not a bad or great movie, but it was good. It's one of those classics that I would be down to rewatch again for nostalgia. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/09/25 Full Review David T It's just... Boring. So very, very, VERY boring. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 05/08/25 Full Review Andrew R I have to be 100% honest, this movie gave me the absolute CREEPS! I am not a horror fan at all naturally, but this movie took it over the top. The whole idea of a popular cheerleader turned serial murderer, was just too gross and inhumane for me. I NEVER want to see a film like this EVER AGAIN. Quite frankly, I may not sleep very well after seeing this frightening monstrosity of a film. I do understand that some people like horror and are into these sort of movies, but this was just way too far beyond my comfort soon, and completely goes against my beliefs entirely. I believe that the writers came up with a story that, although vile and horrifying, was intriguing to hear. That being said, I have to give this film a 2/10. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/08/25 Full Review Esteban M Jennifer’s Body is a movie that improves with every viewing. It initially appears to be an average horror film featuring Megan Fox portraying the beautiful, villainous cheerleader. It is better and more clever than that. There are some darkly satirical elements of this movie that make it funny and creepy at the same time. When it examines young women's friendships, jealousy, and empowerment it is much deeper than you would anticipate it would be. Megan Fox is great as Jennifer; the combination of charm and menace embodied by this character is fun and interesting. While it is a bloody and crazy ride, there are also moments of thoughtfulness. Hopefully you will check it out if you have not yet. It is not your typical horror movie, and it is honestly kind of a cult classic. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/08/25 Full Review serenity s This film is definitely a film that I would consider a horror film. This film, while in the beginning just starts off with two friends or more like friends in a toxic relationship, has a surprising twist to it, and by the end of the film, it leaves you stunned. Megan Fox as the main character of the film was a great choice, as it shows how after her transformation she gains power and uses her power to seduce men which then leads to some scary stuff. The acting in this film was incredible as well. This is a film that would be enjoyable if you watch it with a group of friends, and I would recommend it if you like some dark comedy or want a good scare. overall I think that this film was well made and deserve a watch. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/06/25 Full Review Audience Member Jennifer’s Body is a horror-comedy about a high school girl named Jennifer who becomes possessed and starts killing her male classmates. Her best friend, Needy, slowly realizes what’s happening and tries to stop her. At first, the movie didn’t do well, but over time, people started to see it differently. It’s now a cult favorite because it mixes horror with smart ideas about friendship, jealousy, and how girls are treated in society. Megan Fox plays Jennifer with confidence, showing both beauty and danger, while Amanda Seyfried as Needy brings emotion and strength. The movie also uses humor and horror in creative ways. Some scenes are creepy, but others are funny or emotional. It’s more than just a scary movie—it’s about growing up, being used, and fighting back. Jennifer’s Body stands out because it tells a strong story from a girl’s point of view and has something important to say. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 05/04/25 Full Review Read all reviews
