There's a lot of it that felt like, it is actually not from an experienced director but a passionate one. The film tries to be fresh with the writing and shots but there are slips everywhere showing mistakes. Even with all those problems it is very engaging. The comedy works, and the meta elements in the story work. But the best part of the movie for me was Bobby Simha, who brilliantly lived as a brutal gangster, whose genuine reactions even led to comedic moments. His performance towards the end with so many mixed emotions that even starts to confuse himself is what sold me how good this movie is. There seem to be many references and inspirations from old Tamil films and even though not too familiar, there were many very obvious references I saw there. So, it was a surprise that a large part of the second half of the film was very much inspired by the Malayalam film Udayananu Thaaram.
