One of the worst films I’ve ever seen. Writing was atrocious. Andre 3000 looked like Jimi but does not have the skill or depth as an actor to portray Jimi. Might’ve had a better shot if the script wasn’t hot garbage. I walked out and went to dinner…

Appallingly awful. This fool does not even try re-create Jimi's mannerisms. The script is absolute junk. To try this kind of thing where the music is so pivotal without the rights to the music is just hilarious if it wasn't so terribly bad. Not even a 1% rendition of Jimi. Avoid at all costs.

I don't relate to many of the negative reviews. André Benjamin gives a quintessential performance as Jimi. The editing is also top-notch and helps convey the lens in which Jimi most likely viewed the world through. Highly recommend if you're fan of Jimi and the era.

Horrible. Ignores the accounts of Jimi's girlfriend in London at the time, and portrays him as a woman-hating, misogynist who beats her. She's written an autobiography for gods sake! Instead the dumb director pisses-off every Hendrix fan and goes of what some disgruntled former associate in New York wrote instead.
