The archetype of corny, lumbering dad action that was so prevalent in 70s and 80s TV. Notably, Robert Blake, playing an ultra-bland version of Columbo, gets hit on by both Veronica Cartwright AND JoBeth Williams…one of the best examples of the power of producing your own starring projects.

Hardboiled gumshoe wannabe saved from mediocrity by a varied and interesting supporting cast of great veteran actors all of whom except JoBeth Williams don't get enough screen time.
