JOHN FARNHAM: FINDING THE VOICE tells the untold story of an Australian music icon. In this first authorized biopic, we follow Farnham's life from the quiet suburbs of Melbourne to '60s pop fame, through incredible highs and lows, and ultimately to record-breaking success as 'Australia's Voice'. John Farnham was 38 years old when Whispering Jack was released. Nobody ever questioned that Farnham could sing -- but the challenge to find his artistic voice and become Australia's most trusted and beloved performer took half a lifetime. Whispering Jack is still the highest selling Australian album of all time, and this powerful documentary tracks the personal and public journey that has made Farnham Australia's greatest and most beloved musical artist. Luke Buckmaster Guardian By the end we have a good overview of his career but not the man himself. Rated: 3/5 Jul 24, 2023 Full Review Sandra Hall Sydney Morning Herald It’s a story with everything -- laughter, tears, love and rock’n’roll. And Poppy Stockell’s documentary captures it all. Rated: 4/5 May 18, 2023 Full Review Stephen Romei The Australian This is an inspiring story of someone who had to overcome the odds, including that dreaded mop and bucket, to be who he wanted and deserved to be. Rated: 3.5/5 May 18, 2023 Full Review Graeme Tuckett Stuff.co.nz Everyone on screen is in agreement that success was hard-earned, but that it couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke. If you're hoping for scandal or dirt, you won't find a skerrick here. Rated: 4/5 Jul 28, 2023 Full Review David Griffiths Subculture Entertainment Brilliant doco that tells the story of how one of Australia's national treasures got to the spot where he released one of the highest selling albums of all time. Perhaps could have had more on his personal life but still an amazing film. Rated: 5/5 Jul 22, 2023 Full Review Sarah Ward Concrete Playground Reinforces two core contrasts: that great music is eternal, but even superstars are only flesh and blood; and that the tunes that last seem like easy hits, but so often spring from a lifetime of hard work. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/03/23 Full Review Marie C Absolutely loved it. Brought back so many memories of this wonderful talented man. What a voice and what a story to tell! Well done everyone and congratulations John - you deserve all the wonderful accolades. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/01/23 Full Review Vic M An incredible story about the strength of friendship and how this can bring out the best in you and others. Also a look into the life of someone who is stereotyped from an early age but is completely different in reality. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/29/23 Full Review Jason T It was epic, very very moving…… I cried through most of it…..like half of it…….got a crying headache from holding back the tears. Brought back so many parts of my own life, all those songs. I was such a Johnny fan from the 80s & 90s….. I never knew his earliest stuff at all. So many famous people on it……. So many behind the seen stories of the songs and the albums Shame the screening is only a week. I'll be taking my mum to it today, wether she likes it or not lol 😆 I know she was a big fan too……I had two European male voices I wished I could sing like back then. Johnny and Harry Connick, I was mainly listening to Pop, Hip Hop and R&B. Thanks for the memories, truely he is one of the greatest of all time ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/31/23 Full Review Maxine M Awesome Aussie documentary reviving all the bloody good things that come along with the one and only John Farnham, apart from all the brilliant music his given us with that sublime voice he's such a humble loyal ripper human being. Loved every second. Thank you ! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/25/23 Full Review Read all reviews
