Tom W I know for 1967 this was ground breaking. In today's world though a junior high school film club could do a far better job in plot, effects, acting and ultimately a completed film. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/26/22 Full Review Audience Member One of the most boring and nonsensical scifi movies I've seen, and I've seen many. The time traveling sequences were annoying long and easily the most boring parts of the movie. For example, while traveling to the past we're shown what feels like several minutes of WWII footage, followed by several minutes of civil war footage, followed by several minutes of pirate ship battle footage... (well you get the idea) shown on the time labs large view screen. While we're watching these long time travel periods drone on and on, images of the characters in the lab are occasionally superimposed over the view screen for reason I can't fathom. The character's aren't doing anything, just staring at the camera. And when that isn't being shown, the scene is of the interior of the time lab spinning around as if you are in a centrifuge with the characters plastered up against the walls from centrifugal force. Traveling to the future isn't any better. Just substitute the aforementioned clips with those of nuclear bombs being detonated and buildings collapsing in a never ending apocalypse as the time lab jumps 50,000 years into the future. And the films ending makes no sense with only Dr. Manning and the lab assistant, Karen White, surviving. Both jump back into the time lab and head off in time (and space now for some reason) to become the Adam and Eve of a new Earth. Quite bizarre. A journey to the very center of time itself! Wait... what the hell is the center of time? I guess that'd be the point in between the beginning of the universe and the end of it... I guess. A group of scientists are thrust into the future and then into the past when they experiment with time travel. A 100% 50s atmosphere, an overly ambitious script and a low budget feature clearly watched by cult interest for which I am a fan. The best way to deal with the film is to let go of thoughts and concerns that may affect unconditional viewing and delivery of the cheesy show by David L. Hewitt. and his company. And just enjoy the ride. It may not be a particularly memorable piece of work, but at least JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF TIME is a film more intelligent that it has a right to be. The story is good, some of the acting is acceptable and some is awful, but the major issue is the poor special effects and the poor quality of the film. If you are a sci-fi fan who likes time travel stories, you should watch this. If not it may be better if you did not. They don't even journey to the center of time! I didn't get this movie, I don't know if it's even possible to understand it. I wouldn't recommend seeing this movie.
