Critics Consensus

Jupiter's Moon beams with energetic style, but loses the plot as it meanders through a series of ideas without much discernible payoff.

Audience Member I can see how most people would be frustrated by this film, but it is fantastic. The score, the cinematography are sublime. The story is interesting as well, although it's not standard fare. Thought provoking and allegorical - not what today's consumer is used to. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Highly original political allegory. Provocative and dramatic. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review mauro l Two films in one. The realism of the European crisis (the reactionary and nationalist response to illegal immigration, terrorism, rampant corruption), and the fantastic of a parabola on the dynamics of faith, on guilt and atonement, on the need for purification of a world increasingly chaotic and indecipherable. But these two aspects, Budapest as "Blade Runner" and mystical-religious obsessions ostentated as the only form of salvation (we would have renounced to look towards the High, contenting ourselves with a horizontal dimension), never integrate, rather they cancel each other with null result. (Mauro Lanari) Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Just watched Jupiter's moon. It is a baffling and perplexing film in equal measure. It borders on the allegorical and has an abundance of religious imagery and New Testament references to suggest the the sci-fi category doesn't quite cut it. Locations and characters suited to Old Testament end of days stories where humanity is barren and without hope, direction or compassion. Yes the film is unbelievable but I think part of its charm and message is that that 'not all questions have to be answered' and it is on this poiniant note that the story concludes with the count down in English from a child learning the new language- masterful. I loved it. I loved it!!
