Henry Sturbuck (Jeremy Sumpter) is a 12-year-old boy growing up in a small Nevada town in 1960. One summer, he takes a part-time job working at a local saloon, where he becomes friends with the elderly J.M. Hoagland (Carl Lumbly). J.M. and Henry may be worlds apart, but they both love movies, especially Marilyn Monroe's films. So when they discover that Marilyn herself will be in their small town to film "The Misfits," both Henry and J.M. set out to meet her.
