Critics Consensus

There are moments of mirth in this overly broad comedy, but mostly, Just Friends is just not that funny.

Nathan Rabin AV Club This movie had some good ideas, but never gelled. Nov 6, 2019 Full Review Tim Grierson Screen International Despite a rich premise, Just Friends ultimately fails to live up to its early potential, settling into broad comedy that shortchanges the romantic possibilities. Jul 23, 2008 Full Review Helen O'Hara Empire Magazine Funnier than it has any right to be, thanks to Reynolds’ charisma and Faris's bubbleheaded blonde. Rated: 3/5 Apr 1, 2006 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews The appealing (albeit familiar) premise is employed to distressingly (and predominantly) lackluster effect by Kumble... Rated: 1.5/4 Nov 18, 2020 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com An unexpectedly enjoyable film featuring fine performances from Amy Smart, Ryan Reynolds, Chris Klein, and Julie Hagerty. Rated: 3.0/4.0 Sep 13, 2020 Full Review Virginia Montes Sensacine Despite the best efforts from Reynolds and Faris, the film winds up being just as conventional as any of the genre. Mary A Loved this so much. I'll probably watch it every Christmas now. :) Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/21/24 Full Review Dave T It is a perennial holiday favorite. Always will watch during the season. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/23/24 Full Review Justin S Critics are Peasants. See it for yourself Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/20/24 Full Review Anj M This was such a bad movie, I’m genuinely stunned. I really don’t know what the point of Anna Farris’s character was. I don’t know why Jamie ended up with Chris, when he did nothing to redeem himself beyond tell her he loved her. There’s no explanation as to why she decided to go for him in the present day but not in high school. Is it because he was fat? He objectively has a worse personality now, so it has to be just his looks. There was no character growth or anything. I genuinely just wasted an hour and a half of my life Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/19/24 Full Review Tessie C This may be the worst movie I've ever seen. I made an account just to rate it. I know this movies a product of its time but even for the mid 2000's, I don't think this was good. Incredibly dated, offensive and just not funny. I didn't even blow air out my nose. It's like someone had the gaul to think they could make some rendition of Christmas Vacation. But you should actually just watch that movie instead if you're looking to watch this for its Christmas element. Literally the only good part was when Eyes by Rogue Wave played (the first time). That and the main characters other 2 highschool friends. Don't be fooled by Ryan Reynolds being the lead. Not even he makes this movie enjoyable. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/15/24 Full Review thiago s legal pra caramba, o roteiro até que ficou bacana, várias cenas boas e engraçadas, filme sessão da tarde, recomendo muito esse filme.
