Courtney Howard Variety This melodrama lacks the necessary polish to elevate not just its important message, but also the actors' performances. May 10, 2019 Full Review Frank Scheck Hollywood Reporter Awkward execution and technical imperfections prevent the film from having its desired emotional impact. May 10, 2019 Full Review Andrew Stover Film Inquiry Far from being perfect and far from being the solution to society's approach to teen suicide, a freshly moving perspective revitalizes the discussion of what teen suicide entails for those close to the victim. Jul 3, 2019 Full Review Alex Cole Battle Royale With Cheese Tearful, is how I'd describe Just Say Goodbye in one word, I would only add that Just Say Goodbye deserves and needs a wider release. May 29, 2019 Full Review Jeffrey M. Anderson Common Sense Media Though it first feels like a low-budget after-school special, this indie drama quickly shows that it's heartfelt, caring deeply about its characters' feelings. Rated: 3/5 May 17, 2019 Full Review Rich Cline Shadows on the Wall The ultimate message may be far too obvious, but the film has important things to say. StephenPaul C The greatest 01 hour: and 46 minutes ever!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/24/23 Full Review darren l Thoughts on Just Say Goodbye Characters – Sarah has been best friends with Jesse for years now, she spends her summers away with her father and is always the strongest of the two when it comes to dealing with bullies. She is left in an impossible position when he tells her his plans, forcing her to try and help no matter how much he doesn't want to stop. Jesse saw his mother kill herself when he was young, his father turned to alcohol, his only friend is Sarah. He gets bullied at school and has decided that this summer he is going to end his own life. Rick is the father of Jesse, he turned to alcohol after his wife's death becoming abusive towards Jesse. Chase has been bullying Jesse for years now and doesn't care what the consequences of his action are. Performances – Katerina Eichenberger and Max MacKenzie both have wonderful chemistry together, you can believe their bond as friends and can understand both sides of the emotions being dealt with. William Galatis makes the depressed abusive father feel authentic, Jesse Walters fills the bully role with ease too. Story – The story here follows two high school friends that face a big decision after one has planned his own suicide while the other wants to do everything to stop this happening, leading us down the path of whether he will follow through or not. This story does deal with one of the most sensitive subjects in the world today, teen suicide. This is going to be one of the subjects people will not want to discuss as opening because they don't know how to deal with the conversation, we do get to see how people will hide their problems from even their best friends. This story is a way to open up on the conversation, it is important and shows us just how depression can affect lives. Settings – The settings keep us in the one town location, you get the feeling the high school student do just want to get out of their own lives. Scene of the Movie – The vacation plans. That Moment That Annoyed Me – Cycling without helmets. Final Thoughts – This is a film that is important, we get to see one of the most difficult subjects out there and tackles it with the sensitivity required. Overall: Must see film. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Just say goodbye is a in depth view of what it's like in the world of a suicidal teenager who has dealt with the ultimate loss while being bullied. What's even more important is how his best friend handles it. Shows the true side of a teenage mind who thinks they can save the world when in actuality she is in way over her head. It's a well written and well directed film that that keeps your attention and emotion every minute of the film. Personally I think this film should be shown to every pre-teen and teenager to show them the true effects of bullying and mental health. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Read all reviews
