matthias s "Justice League: Gods and Monsters" is a forgettable film that fails to deliver on its intriguing premise. Fans of the Justice League may find some enjoyment in seeing alternate versions of their favorite heroes, but for everyone else, there's not much here worth watching. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/08/23 Full Review Stephen C The greatest 1.2 hours ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/27/22 Full Review gregory y For most of my life, I considered superhero movies to be very mediocre. This movie is one of the two that forced me to change my mind: this is a really good movie. It actually has a real plot, and it's a great plot - one that I didn't figure out until almost the end of the movie. It was such a good movie, and that was so unexpected: the first time I saw it I had to watch it again the very next day! I've seen it a bunch more times since then and I still enjoy it. I loved seeing the alternative versions of Super-Man, Bat-Man, and Wonder-Woman - all three were such interesting characters. This is now my favorite version of Wonder-Woman. I also liked seeing Super-Man's native language was Spanish - as shown by the fact that Spanish is what he reverted to when he was in shock. That was a nice touch - and maybe an indication that some of the old ways are finally starting to die. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member A highly entertaining DC alternate universe. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member It sucks that not enough people got behind the idea of Dexter Morgan being a superhero, a Latino Superman and redheaded, alien Wonder Woman because Justice League: Gods and Monsters is a great Elseworlds story. The animation is solid, the action sequences are great, the voice actors fit their roles perfectly, the story is enjoyable, the movie doesn't pull its punches despite being PG-13 really making us feel like we're watching different takes on DC's Holy Trinity and the world-building in supplementary material was quite good. The Chronicles mini-sodes and tie-in prequel comics fleshed out these characters and world in a way that this film's brevity simply did not have enough time for. Why was this concept so damn alien to the masses? There are those who give Marvel flak for following a formula but when DC decides to have a vampire Batman whose real name isn't Bruce Wayne, it's apparently going too far. And it caused a second batch of Chronicles mini-sodes to get cancelled and chances of a proper sequel being flushed down the drain. But people like what they're used to, I suppose. Gods and Monsters is an underrated film in DC's Animated Original Movie line that does a good job adding variety to the proceedings, even if people weren't interested in the idea of a Wonder Woman whose tragically deceased fiance was related to Darkseid or something along those lines. Maybe this potential mini-franchise is prospering in an alternate reality, who knows? One can only dream. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Julian Lytle Punch Drunk Critics The really cool thing about this movie is that it's great but it also opens up so much in the story that you want more of it instantly. Rated: 4.5/5 Jan 11, 2020 Full Review Brian Costello Common Sense Media Engaging noir tale is dark and violent; some cursing, nudity. Rated: 4/5 Aug 26, 2015 Full Review Blake Howard 2UE That Movie Show Justice League: Gods and Monsters feels like a bright alternate universe and something that's not just a fleeting plot device. Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 24, 2015 Full Review Peter Canavese Groucho Reviews Another solid entry in the DCU line, Justice League: Gods and Monsters works best as an entrée into what should be a fascinating and highly entertaining series of its own. [Blu-ray/DVD] Rated: 3/4 Aug 12, 2015 Full Review Felix Vasquez Jr. Cinema Crazed A bold reworking and one I hope we can see more of in the future, just to hear Benjamin Bratt kick ass as Superman all over again. Aug 10, 2015 Full Review Allyson Johnson The Young Folks Fun, quick and easily separated from the rest of the universe, Gods and Monsters is worth a watch for dedicated DC fans but is unlikely to sway any newcomers.
