Audience Member Even films that are considered Ray's minor work are better than the best work most Indian filmmakers have produced. There isn't anything minor about this film made in 1962 that still feels as though it is decades ahead of not its time, but our time. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member amazing film. Extraordinary character study, unique storytelling of a single day. The film is really Satyajit-like. The language of the filmmaking is highly innovative. Satyajit's first film from his own story and screenplay. Copmpletely successful. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie is Ray's first 1. Colored movie 2. Movie whose script is written by Ray himself 3. Movie whose story duration is only one day. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie is Ray's first 1. Colored movie 2. Movie whose script is written by Ray himself 3. Movie whose story duration is only one day. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member Primarily the story of a young couple on vacation with their families, being pressured into marriage, but it also explores other marital themes through the other characters. The multi-threaded narrative is unusual for Satyajit Ray, and although sometimes the diversions are distracting, generally it works well. I kind of liked it, but I would consider it a rather "low impact" film from Ray. The Darjeeling locations made quite pleasant backdrops. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member One of the greatest Ray films , it's a real time movie shot in the pictursque Darjeeling hills. Each of the characters are perfectly portrayed and with an obvious perfect Short story styled finishing in the end.
