      dustin d Suzuki Seijun's early yakuza film is stylish and has a few wonderful scenes. The only thing missing is a story. This, however, is actually one of his more accessible offerings, but still pretty strange. Kanto Wanderer serves as a prime example of a director honing his craft while taking chances and still producing fine entertainment. Backgrounds suddenly turn bright red, blue or yellow during dramatic changes from scene to scene, while other background colors might represent certain characters. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member [font=garamond] [img]http://www.moviepoopshoot.com/diatribe/images/2004/jan27/kantoreddeath.jpg[/img] the more i watch seijun suzuki's films, the more he makes his way up my list of favorite directors. kanto wanderer is a little more of a traditional style of filmmaking than branded to kill and tokyo drifter, whose bizarre mixture of styles i prefer, but the amazing suzuki visuals are still there. it's filled with shots that just made my jaw drop. the story isn't too spectacular, but the camera work is more than enough to keep the viewer interested. it's also kind of fun to sit and pick out all of the shots that tarantino stole for kill bill...the man certainly did his homework.
